Randolph Smith is a managing director co-leading Andersen’s practice in the Carolinas and broader Southeast. He joined Andersen in 2025 after 40 years serving clients as a tax professional in the Carolinas and the US. He has served public and private companies across the US with a focus on privately owned companies, pass-through entities, and high-net-worth families and individuals. He spent the years from 2008 to 2023 as the US managing partner of the transportation and logistics industry practice for an international firm.
He has extensive experience serving S Corporations and their owners, partnerships, and other closely held companies. He has represented his clients in IRS examinations, advised on tax accounting methods, tax credits, and entity choice, in addition to serving high-net-worth families and individuals. He is also involved in and serves the trucking and logistics industries.
Before joining Andersen, he was the Head of Tax for the Carolinas practice of Arthur Andersen & Co. and a partner at another international tax and accounting firm. He graduated from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, where he is involved on the Board of Advisors for the School and for the Accounting Department. He is also actively involved on the board of the First Tee of Greater Charlotte and currently serves on the board of advisors at the Moore School of Business at the University of SC and on the board of the Accounting School board of advisors.
